Good managers are also skilled listeners, even if the employee simply needs to let off steam. Most discussions revolve around work-related issues, but the best managers won’t confine the conversation to this. Simply making time to listen is just as important as the content of the discussion.
Provide Feedback
Providing useful feedback not only helps employees to develop, it also tells them that their manager is interested in what they are doing and how they can improve. Effective managers ensure that employees know what they have done well but also understand what they need to change in order to do even better next time.
Be a good role model
Good manager’s lead by example, ensuring that they are the kind of person their employees can look up to. Effective team leaders also nurture adaptive qualities in themselves, such as honesty, empowerment and trustworthiness.
